Napoleon Bonaparte said: "All religions have been made by men", "If I had to choose a religion, the Sun as the universal giver of life would be my god" and "Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet" (4). So, it seems clear from his own words that Napoleon was an atheist. Professor Charles Esdaile estimated that Napoleon Bonaparte was personally responsible for nearly seven million deaths, including civilians (5).      For the atheist, nothing can be wrong if God and His moral Laws do not exist. Moreover, there is no rationale for an atheist to subject himself to anyone else’s moral convictions. In the 1800's the French aristocrat Marquis de Sade was one of the first nonbelievers to coin the word “atheist” in describing his belief. He became obsessed with the destruction of the Catholic Church over criticisms of his sexual relationships with minors. Sade became so infamous for the brutal torturing and murder (particularly women and children), that the word sadism was actually derived from his name (6).      In the early 1940’s, Adolf Hitler’s Germany brought a reign of terror on most of Europe and North Africa. Famed atheists such as Madalyn O'Hair and the late Christopher Hitchens aggressively contended that Adolf Hitler was not an atheist, citing a few references to being inspired by God to eradicate the Jewish people in “Mein Kampf” and other contentions such as a slogan on in the inside part of Nazi belt buckles: “God on Our Side” (7). Given Hitler's hostility to Religion, British Historian Laurence Rees wrote that "The most persuasive explanation of these statements is that Hitler, as a politician, simply recognized the practical reality of the world he inhabited, had Hitler distanced himself or his movement too much from Christianity it is all but impossible to see how he could ever have been successful in a free election" (8). Much of “Mein Kampf” was based on the writings of the German atheist philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (9). “Nietzsche has been often described as the father of modern atheism” (10). “According to Nietzsche, man is an animal evolving from beast to what he referred to as the “superman”, a race of men and women unchained from the shackles of religion, belief in God, and morality, who will use their intelligence and will to create their own world, any world they like”. Nietzsche wrote: “I call Christianity the one great curse, the one great intrinsic depravity, the one great instinct for revenge for which no expedient is sufficiently poisonous, secret, subterranean, petty, I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind” (11). Nietzsche preached that “Christianity must be ruthlessly destroyed in order to make way for the race of supermen who would rise above Christian superstition”. Hitler was a fanatical enthusiast of Nietzsche, basing parts of “Mein Kampf” on the atheist German philosopher, visiting the Nietzsche archives in Berlin, as well having an iconic photo taken of himself gazing upon the bust of the philosopher. Several of Hitler's closest Generals wrote that he kept of copy of Nietzsche's book under his pillow (12). Hitler had his own view of Nietzsche’s “superman”, the infamous Aryan master race. Nietzsche’s concept “Will to Power” was used as one of the Nazi recruiting slogans. Immediately after the greeting call “Heil Hitler!”, Nazi’s often added “Heil Friedrich Neitzsche!” (13). “Hitler saw himself as implementing a Darwinian “law of nature” that would result in the “elimination of the unfit” and bring about a civilization fit for a master race” (14). For part of this “weeding”, Hitler issued a directive licensing doctors to kill disabled children (15). Hitler modeled his eugenics program after this German atheist philosopher: “Neitzsche’s early descriptions of the superman, his replacement for a “dead” God, suggest a more highly evolved creature of the future, yet he later made it clear that the attainment of the superman was not a matter of letting nature take its course. Rather, it called for “eugenics”, for careful and purposeful breeding of the greatest, strongest, and boldest, coupled with the highly disciplined upbringing and education. The superman will not just happen. We are called to pave the way for him by rejection the values of Christianity, democracy, and any creed or system of belief that would hinder the great man in his exercise of power and dominance over the great herd of lesser men” (16). In a stunning Youtube video of a speech given by an 85 year old Austrian woman Kitty Werthmann, she described living through the sequence of Nazi occupation of Austria (17). She detailed how the Nazis first closed the Churches, then removed all Bibles, Crosses and religious articles from the schools. All the evidence makes it very clear that Hitler was an atheist.

Joseph Dzhugashvili (Stalin) was another infamous atheist, whose ambition was to build one of the first atheistic states in the history of the world. “In the forced famines of 1932 and 1933 alone, engineered to bring about the collectivization of Russian farming, it is estimated he purposely starved to death some seven million kulaks. Millions more were executed or taken to the gulags” (18).

"In his lifetime, Stalin will murder millions of people. Some will be shot, others will be denied food and ultimately die of starvation, millions will be sent to die in the deep winter snows of Siberia, and many will be tortured to death. Already, during one infamous murder spree in April and May of 1940, some twenty-two thousand Polish nationals were shot dead. What began as an attempt to execute every member of the Polish officer corps soon expanded to include police officers, landowners, intelligence agents, lawyers, and priests. The shootings were conducted for nights on end, often beginning at dusk and continuing until dawn. Some were mass killings carried out in the Katyn Forest, while others were individual executions inside the Kalinin and Kharkiv prisons. Mikhailovich Blokhin, chief executioner at Kalinin, personally shot seven thousand men in the back of the head as they knelt before him. Those killings took place inside a cell whose walls were lined with sandbags to deaden the sound. As soon as a victim fell dead, he was dragged from the room and thrown onto a truck for delivery to the burial site, while another handcuffed prisoner was marched before Blokhin and told to kneel. Noting that Russian pistols had so much recoil that his hand hurt after just a dozen killings, Blokhin opted for the smoother feel of the German Walther PPK.

The killings continued for two long months. In order to prevent global outrage in case word of the atrocity spread, Stalin ordered his troops to make it seem as if German soldiers had carried out the executions. His cruelty is so perverse that even those who serve him are in constant fear for their lives. Stalin has a standing order that none of his bodyguards are to enter his bedroom. Ever. Once, just to test them, he lay on his bed and screamed out in agony. Thinking the Soviet leader was in mortal danger, the guards rushed into the room to save his life. Stalin’s scream was fake. He was testing his guards. Each man was then executed for failure to follow orders.

Stalin will ultimately order between fifty million and sixty million deaths, far more than his hated rival Adolf Hitler. The entire population of Great Britain is forty-seven million people. Stalin, in effect, will eventually slaughter the equivalent of every man, woman, and child in Winston Churchill’s beloved homeland. He will do so without compassion or guilt, all the while living a life of luxury and debauchery in stark contrast to the rigors of the Communist lifestyle his government imposes" (Killing Patton by Bill O'Reilly).

Committed Chinese atheist Mao Tse-Tung brutally forced all the citizens under his regime into resolute atheism. “Mao Tse-Tung, who for decades held absolute power over the lives of a quarter of the world’s population, was responsible for well over 70 million deaths in peacetime” (19).

In the 1970’s, Cambodian atheist dictator Pol Pot worked to death, tortured and executed over two million people. A short distance from Phnom Penh (the capital city) stands a thirty foot glass tower filled to the top with human skulls (20).

Nonetheless, eroded society persists in honoring atheists, notwithstanding their total elimination of human value. The American Nobel-Prize-winning molecular biologist atheist James D. Watson contended that the legal definition of “person” should not apply to infants younger than three days old. “This would allow adequate time for someone to decide if a baby should be permitted to live” (21). There is another Nobel Prize-winner who advocated the murdering of live born infants, our current US President Obama, as demonstrated when he aggressively fought against the "Born Alive Infant Protection Act" (BAIPA) on the Illinois Senate floor (22). The BAIPA barred abortionists from killing late term babies (typically 7 - 9 months) that survived the abortion procedure. Abortionists were routinely putting these viable infants in buckets or boxes and, leaving them to die, sometimes in closets as not to hear the crying. Several nurses including Jill Stanek testified that some lived crying at the top of their little lungs for hours. Modernized abortion clinics utilized refrigerated cold boxes for this purpose, which killed the babies through thermal exposure. President Obama may not be an atheist, but was heavily influence by atheist Saul Alinsky. When campaigning in Iowa, Obama stated that his Alinsky training was the best education he ever had (23).

Many Christians believe that Madalyn Murray O'Hair’s 1963 lawsuit that brought about the removal of Bible reading from public schools in the United States may be the root cause of school violence (24). Before the lawsuit, it was common for students to participate in religious activities at school, including religious instruction. The statistics compiled by Glenn Newton on SermonCentral.com show a dramatic change after 1963:

A. Young People

1. For 15 years before 1963 pregnancies in girls ages 15 through 19 years had been no more than

    15 per thousand After 1963 pregnancies increased 187% in the next 15 years.

2. For younger girls, ages 10 to 14 years, pregnancies since 1963 are up 553%.

3. Before 1963 sexually transmitted diseases among students were 400 per 100,000. Since 1963,

    they were up 226% in the next 12 years.

B. The Family

1. Before 1963 divorce rates had been declining for 15 years. After 1963 divorces increased

    300% each year for the next 15 years.

2. Since 1963 unmarried people living together is up 353%

3. Since 1963 single parent families are up 140%.

4. Since 1963 single parent families with children are up 160%.

C. Education

1. The educational standard of measure has been the SAT scores. SAT scores had been steady for

    many years before 1963. From 1963 they rapidly declined for 18 consecutive years, even

    though the same test has been used since 1941.

2. Of the nation's top academic scholars, three times as many come from private religious

    schools, which operate on one-third the funds as do the public schools.

D. The Nation

1. Since 1963 violent crime has increased 544%.

3. Illegal drugs have become an enormous & uncontrollable problem.

Since atheists believe that people are simply a random fluke of nature, many believe that human beings have no more or less value than an amoeba or a chipmunk.  For example; the president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Atheist Ingrid Newkirk asserted: “Animal liberationists do not separate out the human animal, so there is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They are all mammals” (20). Newkirk also declared that “Humans have grown like a cancer. We’re the biggest blight on the face of the earth” (21).

Atheist philosopher John Searle wrote: “We are inclined to say that since nature consists of particle and their relations with each other, and since everything can be accounted for in terms of those particles and their relations, there is simply no room for freedom of will. It really does look as if everything we know about physics forces us to some form of denial of human freedom” (22). "The champions of socialism call themselves progressives, but they recommend a system which is characterized by rigid observance of routine and by a resistance to every kind of improvement. They call themselves liberals, but they are intent upon abolishing liberty. They call themselves democrats, but they yearn for dictatorship. They call themselves revolutionaries, but they want to make the government omnipotent. They promise the blessings of the Garden of Eden, but they plan to transform the world into a gigantic post office. Every man but one a subordinate clerk in a bureau. What an alluring utopia!
